The City of Kelso partners with the state Business Licensing Service to support its city license program.  Businesses get convenient online registration and rewnewal services connected to other Washington cities and public agencies.

Licensing helps public safety agencies to contact you in an emergency and improves resources to better support economic development in our city.

Am I required to get a city business license?

City businesses - companies and individuals - must obtain a city license if doing business within City limits.  Using the online service is the fastest way to apply.

Who is exempt from licensing?

Businesses exempt from local license requirements include:

  • Casual or isolated sales.
  • Common carrier delivery of goods and services within city limits.
  • Minors engaged in baby-sitting, newpaper delivery, lawn mowing, and car washing.

PUBLIC NOTICE

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ROADWAY FOR PAVING

Yew Street will be closed for paving on June 5th – June 7th, between the intersections of S. Pacific Avenue and S. 7th Avenue.

No traffic will be allowed during paving on Monday and Tuesday, as follows:.

Closures are scheduled as follows:

Monday June 5th and Tuesday June 6th, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm: Yew Street will be closed to all traffic from S. Pacific Ave to S. 7th Ave. Residents on Yew Street will need to park vehicles outside the work area. Residents on 5th Street south of Yew Street will have extremely limited access. NO access between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Proposed Kelso Engineering Design Manual revisions will be presented to the city council on their April 18, 2017 meeting. The presentation will include proposed updates to KEDM to include Low Impact Development (LID) principles and best management practices.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Walnut Street/7th Avenue street corridor in South Kelso will be closed for paving the week of March 27 – March 31, from the intersection of Walnut St./10th Avenue to the intersection of 7th Ave./Yew Street. A detour route will be in place during the closures to direct motorists.

Closures are scheduled as follows:

  • Monday-Wednesday, March 27, 28, 29: The roadway will be closed to thru traffic but open to local traffic.
  • Thursday, March 30, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm: Walnut Street will be closed to all traffic from 7th Avenue to 10th Avenue. Residents on Walnut Street will need to park vehicles outside the work area.
  • Friday, March 31, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm: 7th Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Walnut Street to Yew Street. Residents on 7th Avenue will need to park vehicles outside the work area.

Beginning March 20th, 2017, Advanced Excavating Specialists, LLC will be working on an emergency contract with the City of Kelso to repair a collapsed sewer main at NW 3rd Avenue and W. Main Street.

W. Main Street Will be closed at NW 3rd Avenue only. All business will be open and access to W. Main will be available at all intersections except NW 3rd Avenue.  Repairs are expected to last 2 weeks.

Effective immediately, the north bound lane of SW 5th between Washington St. and Lincoln will be closed due to a sewer repair. Closure is expected to continue thru Friday February 17th 2017.  A second closure at a later date will be required to complete road repair. The second closure will be weather dependent. This summer Kelso will be rebuilding pavement and replacing some of the underground utilities in S. Pacific Avenue, between Vine and Cherry Streets. Starting February 14 surveyors with HHPR, Inc. will begin surveying and mapping the project area. For additional information regarding this project please contact Tim Shell at 577-3322.
